At White House Meeting, Greenprint Members Announce Their Commitment to Cut Energy 20% by 2020.
December 2, 2011, Washington D.C…….Five Greenprint Foundation members joined President Obama at the White House to announce their commitment to cut energy by 20% by 2020 for a significant portion of their portfolios. With this announcement, Jones Lang LaSalle, GE Capital, Prologis, RREEF and TIAA-CREF, in partnership with Greenprint and the Greenprint Performance Report, will become active participants in the Better Buildings Challenge (BBC). BBC is a part of the Better Buildings Initiative launched in February by the President, and spearheaded by former President Clinton and the President's Council on Jobs and Competitiveness. The Initiative supports job creation by catalyzing private sector investment in commercial and industrial building energy upgrades to make America's buildings 20% more efficient over the next decade, reducing energy costs for American businesses by nearly $40 billion.
Collectively, Greenprint members have, to date, committed over 240 million square feet of commercial property to the Better Buildings Challenge. These commitments further illustrate our members' on-going efforts to not only improve operating and financial performance for their clients' investments, but also a larger responsibility to the community at large.
